During the African Youth Conference on Natural Resources and Environmental Governance, Mr. Enoch Anyane delivered an inspiring presentation on the “Campaigning on Push and Pull Strategy,” emphasizing its effectiveness in environmental advocacy. This strategy acts as a link between policymakers and the public, promoting inclusive involvement and fostering positive social change.
Mr. Anyane explained the push and pull campaign strategy, positions activists, civil society organizations (CSOs), and changemakers as intermediaries between policymakers and the general public. By advocating for fair representation and strategic mobilization, this approach aims to achieve just policy outcomes and amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

Highlighting the dynamic nature of the push and pull strategy, Mr. Anyane emphasized, “If policymakers are the issue, push them, and if the public is the issue, pull them.” This principle underscores the importance of strategic mobilization based on stakeholders’ roles and influence in the policy-making process. By promoting two-way engagement and fair representation, advocates can drive meaningful change and advance the interests of marginalized groups.
In the realm of environmental advocacy, the push and pull strategy holds significant implications for driving sustainability initiatives. By involving both policymakers and the public, activists can ensure diverse perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. This inclusive approach encourages dialogue, collaboration, and ultimately leads to more informed and balanced outcomes in environmental governance.
